It's time to Own Your Voice.

What is Vocal Confidence Coaching?

The sound of your voice is a vital component of your identity.  When people listen to you speak they can immediately discern many things about you such as age, gender, and culture of origin.  They also hear your fear, joy, confidence, nervousness, authority, believability, and so much more.  It makes sense, then, that allowing your voice to be heard in its fullest, most authentic form can be a tricky sometimes, or even downright scary.

Vocal Confidence Coaching pulls together a variety of exercises and modalities – including singing, to help you trust and appreciate the sound of your voice, while at the same time weaving in a deep sense of confidence in who you are and what you need to say, and combining all of that with the skills and tools you need to communicate clearly in any situation.

✨Sounds like magic, right?✨

Is this type of coaching for someone like me?

This type of coaching is helpful to anyone who wants to feel more confident and have the courage and skills to speak up.  If you’re not sure if this is for you, here are two lists (I like lists!) to help you decide:

Would you like to have access to any of the following?

  • Overall increase in confidence and assertiveness
  • Increased professionalism and presence
  • Ability to speak with clarity and intention
  • Enhanced relationships and cooperation
  • Ability to navigate situations on the fly
  • Artfully debate and manage conflict
  • Speak confidently in difficult situations
  • Confidence presenting in front of a audience
  • Comfort speaking up in a meeting
  • Reduced social anxiety
  • Improved leadership
  • Enhanced interview, contract and raise negotiations
  • Extra mental space, energy and creativity.
  • Increased sureness and clarity in all the languages you speak

Or, do any of these statements describe your experience with your voice?

  • My voice is too quiet/loud
  • I don’t like the sound of my voice
  • My voice is too high/low, masculine/feminine
  • My voice is gravelly, whispery or thin
  • My voice cracks, waivers, breaks up, or feels tired a lot
  • I run out of breath often
  • People often don’t understand me, tell me that I mumble, or ask me to repeat myself
  • People ignore me or speak over me
  • It’s hard to ask people to do things I need them to do
  • I don’t know when it’s my turn to speak
  • I want to share my thoughts, but I’m afraid I’ll look stupid
  • I don’t know where to look or what to do with my hands

To sum things up, if you said ‘yes’ to any of the items on these lists, then this work is for you!

What will we work on?

This pragmatic and holistic style of coaching will take you all the way to the deepest foundations of your voice.  You will feel more comfortable and confident in any situation in which you need to express yourself.  As I mentioned above, this work pulls together a combination of exercises and modalities.  It is built around three main pillars:

The Sound of Your Voice:

  • Developing clarity, power, control, and stamina.
  • Understanding how the voice works and crafting a sound that truly represents who you are.

What You Want to Say:

  • Tapping into your authentic self and clarifying what you want to say.
  • Addressing limiting beliefs and replacing old patterns with confidence and safety.

How to Say it Effectively:

  • Building the skills to communicate and present your ideas clearly in any situation.
  • Cultivating the ability to foster relationships and deepen connections with others.

Can you be a little more specific?

Sure!  To clarify things a bit, confident self-expression is a richly layered concept that impacts almost every area of a person’s life. Maybe you feel unsure of yourself in your new role at work, or perhaps you need to have a difficult conversation with your loved one and you feel uncomfortable or can’t find the words.  Maybe you want to lead your team with a combination of warmth and authority, or perhaps you just want to give your next tech talk without passing out in front of your boss.

Whatever your concerns, I will work with your goals, learning methods, personality, and lifestyle to customize a plan that works best for you.  Some common topics my clients like to explore include:

Vocal Technique:

Resonance, volume, projection, stamina, control, consistency

Presence:

Posture, breathing, grounding, owning the space

Communication:

Articulation, non-verbal cues, listening, healthy dialogue

Speech:

Enunciation, pronunciation, accents, intonation, pacing, timing

Presenting:

Gestures, pacing, timing, stage logistics, rehearsing, content writing, recording

Leadership:

Intention, authority, influence, intuition, boundaries

Authenticity:

Perfectionism, vulnerability,  limiting beliefs, imposter syndrome

Community:

Belonging, connection, social anxiety, multiculturalism

Creativity:

Singing, improvisation, freeing, brainstorming

This might sound like a lot, or a bit overwhelming.  Never fear, because we will discuss what is most important to you and build our plan around the topics you need the most help with.  Easy peasy!

How is it structured?

You and I will discuss which issues you want to tackle and in what order.  We’ll document our initial plan in your handbook and, based on your learning style and lifestyle, we will determine the perfect balance of guidance, support, structure and accountability that works for you.  We’ll revisit the plan throughout our time together to check on milestones and to weave in new discoveries and topics that come up along the way.

We’ll do all of this through a combination of offerings:

1. 90-min onboarding session.

I will thoughtfully guide you through a series of questions and personal inquiry to get to the heart of the transformation you’d like to create, and build our initial roadmap.

2. Bi-weekly 90-min 1-to-1 coaching sessions.

This is where we do the deep dive with guided discussions and fun, experiential exercises.

4. Unlimited phone, email and text support.

The real work happens outside of our meetings as you practice on your own, and apply these new concepts in your daily life.  Therefore, throughout our the program we will continue our work in between meetings. We’ll review and evaluate your experiences, handle any blocks, celebrate any victories, and tackle any new situations or concern.  Likewise, in order to keep you moving forward in your progress, you’ll also have accountability and support in the form of:

  • Daily habits and lifestyle check-ins
  • Vocal exercises
  • Communications exercises
  • Guided inquiry and discussion

5. Private online folder with handbook, detailed client notes, and milestone tracker.

You’ll have a super convenient Google Drive folder with all your important stuff in it, including your handbook, regularly updated personal notes, and milestone tracker.

6. Any additional books, resources, practice materials and exercises.

I’ll also source and provide any additional info and materials we need to maximize our work together.

7. Personalized appointment scheduling.

We’ll find a cadence that works well for you.

8. Private Facebook group.

Join the online community for additional support, connection and guided discussions.

9. 90-min closing session.

We’ll review and celebrate your progress, clarify anything you need to continue your practice going forward, and talk about any necessary next steps or future support you’ll need.

How long is the program and how much does it cost?

Very important question!  Currently, I offer two versions of this program, and each has two payment options:

 ▶️ 3-Month Coaching Program:

Option 1: Invest upfront (Save $150): $2100

Option 2: Pay as you go: $750/month

▶️ 6-Month Coaching Program:

Option 1: Invest upfront (Save $250): $3950

Option 2: Pay as you go: $700/month

Why do I have to commit to 3 or 6 months?

Just like getting in shape or learning to code, personal development work takes time, intention and practice.  Committing to the work for a certain amount of time gives you the space to move from learning the concepts (knowing), to practicing them (doing), to effortlessly incorporating them into your daily life (being).

What’s the difference between the 3-month and 6-month programs?

There are two main differences between these programs:

1) The number of 90-minute coaching sessions:

  • The 3-month program includes (6) 1-to-1 sessions
  • The 6-month program includes (12) 1-to-1 sessions

2) The 6-month program offers the client more time to dig in on additional areas of interest, as well as to build ongoing habits and weave them into daily life.

lot of ground can be covered in the 3-month program, so no matter which one you feel ready for you will come out the other side feeling incredibly confident in your voice and ability to communicate in any situation.

You also have the option to extend your program after the 3 or 6 months if you want to continue your work, explore additional topics, or dive a little deeper.

Why does it cost so much?

The cost is well-aligned with the transformative power of the work you will be doing.  You have been checking ‘all the right boxes’ your whole life:

  • Go to the best college.
  • Get the right degree.
  • Get the perfect job at the perfect company.
  • Get promoted.

But you found this page because for one reason or another, whether at work or at home, you are unable to fully speak up.  My job is to help you find your truth, feel safe in it, and give you the tools to confidently share it.  This program is structured in such a way that you will receive as much attention, support, accountability and guidance as you need.  This program is also not about checking boxes anymore.  It’s going to take you on a journey that can’t be quantified by the number of meetings, phone calls, worksheets, etc.  It’s about you learning to listen to your Inner Voice, and building the skills to live, and work, and lead, and share, with a sense of purpose and confidence.

Can I try it out before I commit?

Sure!  You can schedule a free 30-minute phone consultation or a 90-minute trial session for $150.

Two common questions clients ask:

1) Do I have to sing?

You absolutely do not have to sing if you do not want to.  If you do decide to give it a try, you’ll find that it’s a really fun and interesting way to quickly break down mental blocks and understand how your voice works.

Many people rate singing at the top of their list of fears – even above death!  The fact that singing is so scary is what makes it such a uniquely powerful tool for building confidence and owning your voice.  If you can conquer your fear of singing, you can conquer anything.  Well, almost anything. 😉

Plus, it’s fun!

2) I feel totally confident, I just can’t get my voice to project, and/or when I do it gets tired quickly. Why does this happen?

I hear you.  Most physical vocal issues like volume control and fatigue are pretty easy to fix, and we can certainly focus our attention specifically on those physical issues in order to have that clear, resonant voice that you crave.

That said, physical vocal symptoms are more often than not rooted in how we feel about who we are, what we are saying, and/or other factors of being in that exact moment.  Therefore, as we work on the physical voice it’s important that we take a look at any underlying factors that are contributing to your vocal experience.  There are many reasons why a totally confident person would have a difficult time projecting or might easily feel vocal fatigue.  Here are a few things that might be impacting your voice:

  • You don’t like the sound of your voice.
  • Sometimes feel strong and resonant and at other times quiet.  Have you noticed any patterns around time, place, the content or difficulty level of the conversation, the person or persons to whom you are communicating?
  • Your posture is a little slouchy, or you sit a lot.
  • You have moved into a new work/life situation or circumstance.
  • You have previously been reprimanded or called out for something you’ve said, or for your voice sounding a certain way.
  • You grow up in a family or culture that emphasized silence, non communication, suppression of emotions, or accelerated personal achievement.
  • You spend a lot of time alone or behind a screen.
  • You comfortable speaking about specific data, but have trouble sharing in creative brainstorming meetings.
  • Your voice feel stronger in your native language than it does in English.

If you’re not totally sure what’s going on with your voice, email me to schedule a phone call and I’ll help you figure out next steps.

Why Can’t I Sign Up Online?

In order to ensure that each client gets a uniquely personal, high-value, and thoughtful coaching experience, it’s important that we’re a good fit.  Rather than sign up sight-unseen, it’s helpful for the client to have an actual chat with their future coach, and it’s also nice for the coach to have a chat with their future client.

Additionally, if for some reason it turns out that we are not the right fit, I’ll help you find a coach that is. Easy peasy!

This sounds great, but I still need more info.
