Frequently Asked Questions
Is this for me?
The best way to discern if this is for you is to hop on a 30-minute discovery call. We will talk about what your goals are and what you feel is holding you back. I’ll share more information about my approach, and together we’ll paint a clearer picture that helps you get headed in the right direction. If this is not the right fit for you, I’ll do my best to provide you with referrals.
What if I just need voice technique?
It’s true; you probably do need to work on voice technique like pacing, breathing, projection, etc.
That said, vocal technique by itself is only going to get you so far if you don’t also address the underlying reasons why you may speed up and your voice gets stuck in the first place.
If you truly want your voice to come out when you need it, it’s essential to understand the internal external factors that inhibit your ability to express yourself clearly—and why. This self-awareness empowers you with more choice, leading to authentic confidence from the inside out.
When we combine that confidence with voice techniques and communication skills, you won’t just have a more reliable and enjoyable sounding voice; you will also be able to express yourself comfortably in a wider variety of situations—whether in meetings at work, during difficult conversations with loved ones, at public speaking events, or simply introducing yourself to someone new at a party.
Sounds pretty good, right?
How long will it take to reach my goals?
It varies widely based on the individual. For most people, I suggest a minimum commitment of 3 months. Here are some things to keep in mind when deciding if it’s the right time for you to pursue this work:
- Deadline or goal
- Work schedule
- Learning style
- Lifestyle
- Amount of time to practice or reflect on the concepts in between meetings
- Self-motivation versus amount of outside structure or accountability needed
- Level of fear, shyness, or hesitation upon beginning
When can I start?
You can begin at any time, schedules permitting. The first step is to book a no-cost 30-minute discovery call.
Where will we meet?
Because my clients are located all over the country and world, meetings are held via Zoom. When we happen to be in the same location, we can certainly meet in person.
When will we meet?
Some folks prefer a regular, recurring time, others prefer to schedule ad hoc around other meetings and events. We will discuss and create a cadence that works best for you.
What are the sessions like?
In our first session—your onboarding session—we review your answers to your onboard questionnaire and use this as a starting point to understand where you are now, where you’d like to go, and to map out our initial steps.
What we do in subsequent sessions varies depending on what you have been practicing, what results you have been getting, any new information or challenges that arise, and how all of this connects to your greater goal. My approach is customized for each client, combining facilitated discussions with experiential processes, tailored practices, and ongoing support.
How do I access my materials in between sessions?
You will have a private account within my secure client management system, CoachAccountable. You can access it via the link above or you can bookmark it to the home screen of your phone to use it like an app. To contact me between sessions, you will have access to my email as well as my phone number for texting and WhatsApp. You can also contact me through the platform.
Who else have you worked with?
I have worked with 1,500 people from 25 countries and 65 organizations. My specialty is individuals in technical roles within the Silicon Valley ecosystem, though my clients are from all industries and a wide variety of personal backgrounds. Check out the About page or the Testimonials page for more about my experience or to read about client transformations.
What does it cost?
Pricing for all 1:1 coaching programs is published on the 1:1 coaching page. Pricing for corporate programs is determined by the specific factors of your organization. Book a call, and let’s chat.
Do you offer payment plans?
For all programs except for the Open-Ended Retainer, payment plans are available.
Do you offer discounts or scholarships?
While I do not currently offer standardized discounts or scholarships, if you feel that 1:1 coaching will help you but you are unable to make the full investment, please reach out, and let’s discuss how we might be able to make it work.
Do you take insurance?
Unfortunately, I’m not able to take insurance.
Does this qualify for employer reimbursement?
Many companies offer full or partial learning and development reimbursement as part of their employee benefits package. 1:1 coaching like this typically falls under communication coaching or leadership coaching. Speak to your HR partner or direct manager about how it works in your company. I’m happy to provide any necessary documentation.
Do you have a refund policy?
I do not offer refunds. Before investing in this work, we will have as many discussions as needed to ensure that we are aligned on the value of this process and to support your success. Throughout our time together, we will also continue to reconnect and align.
Can you help my voice reflect my gender?
Yes, and… Generally speaking, my specialty is to help folks feel safer to live in greater alignment, aliveness, and authenticity while developing new tools for confident self-expression. In that regard, all voices are welcome here, and I will help in whatever ways I can.
That said, the connection between voice and gender is uniquely tender and often requires specialized vocal techniques. Nonbinary, trans, and queer individuals might find it especially beneficial to work with someone who understands their lived experiences. If this sounds like you, I recommend exploring SF Voice and Swallowing.
If you are nervous or don’t know where to start, please book a discovery call, and we will figure it out together.
What are your experience and credentials?
You can find all the information regarding my experience and credentials on the About page.
